Yes. Full Python source, not compiled or obfuscated.

Additional software needed?

For development: Python 3.12+. For end-users: None. The built .app/DMG is fully standalone and includes its own Python runtime.

Text length limit?

None. Processing time scales with length.

Internet required?

Only for initial model download (~335MB). Then fully offline.

Works on Windows?

No. macOS only.

Works on Intel Mac?

No. Apple Silicon required (M1/M2/M3/M4).

Minimum macOS version?

macOS 13.0 (Ventura).

How many computers per license?

Per Envato terms, 1 regular license = 1 end product.

Can I resell?

No. See Envato license terms.

Can I use in a SaaS?

Extended license required. Contact support.

Where are models stored?

~/Library/Application Support/SimpleReader/models/

How to reset/redownload models?

Delete the models folder at the path above and restart the app.

Can I add custom voices?

Not currently. Voices are bundled with Kokoro.
